“pLEASE make me…”
Four Elements of Creation Story:
“Are you a Potter or Clay?”, Part 2
THE POTTER: THE ARCHITECT OF VISION
In the architecture of creation WE TALK in part 1, the Potter is the sole author of the vision. Long before the wheel spins, the final masterpiece is already fully realized in the artisan’s mind.
Because the design is absolute, the raw material cannot bargain; the clay must be 100% yielded to the Potter’s touch. A 99% surrender is still a holdout. To be made into something of profound utility, we must entirely release our grip on our own will.
Yet, the Great Potter does not demand blind, unfeeling compliance; He invites us to actively cooperate in our own transformation. While we are still pliable, fluid, and willing, His ultimate intent is to take what is fractured, flawed, and otherwise discarded, and refine it into a vessel of exquisite beauty and purpose.
The Sovereign Choices of the Potter:
Refine: If the material responds beautifully to the kneading, the Potter completes the original design with precision.
Reshape: If a different purpose calls for it mid-process, the Potter seamlessly pivots, moulding the clay into an entirely new creation.
Discard: If the clay hardens in its resistance and refuses to form, the Potter holds the absolute right to cast it aside.
The Master Stroke: The Potter personally applies the final, unique adornments to each vessel, ensuring its distinct beauty. He then seals it with a protective glaze, shielding the creation from being easily marred or broken by the outside world.
The Spiritual Blueprint: Your talents are not permanent possessions; they are divine loans. They are decorated upon you not for selfish vanity, but for higher service. What we refuse to use for the Good, we ultimately lose.
THE CLAY: THE CRUCIBLE OF SURRENDER
Let’s be honest: being the CLAYis a brutal process. It requires immense, quiet grit to let external hands break down your shape. To be good moulding clay, you must trust the craftsman's experience over your own comfort.
The Potter labours tirelessly over the material until his craftsmanship is fully realized. If a pot structural cracks or warps beyond repair, it holds no leverage—it is effortlessly discarded. Can the vessel argue with the one who spun it? Does the clay possess "rights" to dictate its own form? No. It finds its true dignity and highest utility—whether as a humble kitchen jar or a breathtaking vase—solely because the Potter willed it to exist.
WATER & AIR: THE STABILIZERS
What vital element must be continuously introduced during the gruelling kneading phase?WATER.
Before the shaping can even begin, the destructive, hidden air bubbles and foreign impurities must be aggressively worked out of the core. Once cleared, the clay must remain intensely hydrated. It must be kept covered, sheltered from harsh environments so it does not dry out and fracture prematurely. It requires a protected space to survive until it is ready to take form.
FIRE: THE ULTIMATE TEST
FIREis the non-negotiable final phase—the mandatory crucible of the furnace. A vessel can be perfectly shaped, decorated, and glazed, but it remains entirely useless until it survives the heat.
The fire is what locks in structural strength, turning fragile mud into lasting stone. However, the furnace is also an unyielding truth-teller: if any tiny, hidden impurities or pockets of resistance remain deep within the clay, the intense heat will cause the piece to crack or violently explode.
THE FINAL RECKONING
At the end of the process, a test is guaranteed. The Divine almost always tests us using the things closest to our hearts—not to break us, but to ensure His newest, most powerful gifts are being placed into hands strong enough to carry them.
This leaves us with the defining question of your journey:
“Are you the Potter or the Clay?”
Are you still fighting for total control over your life, or are you ready to yield to a higher authority?
Are you willing to finally let God be God?
Will you allow the Divine to "knead" you, working out the deep-seated flaws and chaotic problems holding you back?
Will you let that power decorate you with unique gifts, and then deploy them for a greater service?
Will you endure the heat of the furnace to harden your porcelain and reveal the timeless beauty within you?
“Journey well, my friends!”
